Winter Weight Loss Tips - 6 Inexpensive Ways to Stay In Shape While Staying Indoors

by Youtube Fitness

Here are six simple and inexpensive weight loss tips for the winter:

1. Fasting - Holiday weight loss is easier than most people think, and fasting is your first step. From 8pm to 8am eat nothing. Fasting is safe and recommended by most doctors. If a person must eat after 8pm, studies have shown that a bowl of cereal (less than $1) is best and participants still lost weight. Continue with the fast for 12 hours after the cereal.

Cost: Free-$1

2. Bodyweight exercises  - They can be done throughout the day. Yoga poses and push-ups are good bang for your buck exercises. You can stop and do poses or other exercises at anytime for 30-60 seconds while: waiting for coffee to brew, on hold making calls, during commercial breaks while watching TV, and yes even while driving - tensing stomach, leg, butt and arm muscles at red lights, for a certain amount of time, miles, or between destinations.

Bonus: Two hours of window shopping can burn up to 300 calories.

3. Trampolines -Trampolines are especially good if you sit at a desk all day. If you can keep a folding trampoline at your workplace, hop on every hour or so for two minutes. Break out the trampoline while watching TV and do it during your show or during commercial breaks. Watch these Youtube videos and learn the benefits of rebounding and mini-trampolines.
4. Kettlebells - Doing 20-30 kettlebell swings in the morning is a great way to wake up and burn calories. Kettlebells burn 1200 calories per hour so if you do two to three sets (that's 60-90 swings with a break in between) that is 100 calories or more gone in about 5 minutes. Definitely worth the investment!

Cost: $30-$50

5. Eat Whole Foods - Unprocessed whole foods are a lot cheaper than anything that comes in a box, and if you eliminate meat a day or two a week you can save even more money. Do some extra fasting and have an all fruit or all veggie day. Good choices are: apples, bananas, cabbage, celery, carrots, melons, cauliflower, brussell sprouts and zucchini.

Bonus: Eat more often: 8pm, 11pm, 2pm, 5pm and 8pm

Money saved: 25-40% off your grocery bill

6. Sleep - Burn a pound of fat a week just by sleeping! You burn 60-70 calories per hour sleeping. Getting eight hours in will assist you in dropping a pound a week. If you're exercising on a regular basis the number of calories can jump up to 70-80 calories or more!
